Back At It With A Work In Progress

Hi Guys!!! Well after two weeks break, I'm back on the Polyies colouring up a storm... Still taking it easy, so this is just a work in progress picture to let you know I'm still around and living!! :)

This is a gorgeous image by Mo Manning by "Wiz" which you can purchase HERE

This is the picture of him with his First Layer of pencil on his coat..

And this is with his second final layer on his coat... Isn't amazing how much difference that second layer makes.. really increase the depth and colour of the image.

Ironically, Now having created SO much contrast and shadowing in his coat, I'll have to go back over his Beard and Skin and darken them up to match... but I'll wait till I finish the piece before I muck around with those little edits. :)

Will I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek. Hopefully the next post will be him all finished and framed. :)

Happy Crafting.

    1. Hi Annie, I haven't really kept a list, one of the things I have stopped doing now since leaving the DT... it's quite hard with pencils because unlike copics there are about 9-11 different pencils for just each section, and it's just one more thing for my brain to have to do cope with, so I haven't really kept track... I just grab a range of colours I like a good mix of tones, from shade to light and give them a try on a bit of scrap, and if they work I try them out on the image.. but even them I worked out I needed darker, so in my second layer I added a bit darker, and grabbed another pencil... So sorry... can't really give you colours for this hun...
Plus.. I'm trying to step away from being stuck in a "formula" and just going with my gut regarding colours...and
I found when I worry about writting everything down, I don't want to add "just that bit of blue, or brown, or green in there, because it's another colour to add to my cheat sheet, and I'll have to explain how I used it cause it won't make sense...
Hope I don't disapoint to many for that. :)

    1. Hi Erica, This is done on Arches 300gsm Hotpress Smooth Water Colour Paper... I trialled the Me Teintes that was recommended in the Kit and Clowder class, but I found with the Polychromos that it's just didn't work well with the hard lead of the Polychromos... I could not get enough layers on the cardstock without the paper buckling, and the coour just didn't want to go on it after the first layer... This was a HUGE problem I found when I did my "Amanita" Mushroom image, in the popup card... Also found my laser printer was rubbing off the Me Teinte... This has not been the case with the Arches.. The colour blends so nicely.. it's a smooth feel paper, but the pencil still goes one, and blends, and allows layers, because it's actually made from cotton not paper, so it has tooth, even if you cannot see it... I also use this paper for my Distressed Inks, so for me it's doubly good because I don't have to have two papers hanging around.. It's expensive, but I cut down the cost by purchase large sheets about $8.90 per large sheet... and then I cut it into smaller sheets with a ruler that has a rotary blade on it (used for quilting!!).
